Law school opinions over time: U.S. News rankings and history

A great post over at Conglomerate on the reputational persistence of all but a few lucky schools. Your status in 1992 explains a very large part of your status in 2006, despite significant changes up or down, in, say, student quality or educational expenditures. There are two exceptions: the "miracles" of San Diego and George Mason. Both have skyrocketed upwards (although neither have reached the top-25 school ranking yet). The guest-poster notes that while this may be a feat some other schools would be willing to invest to replicate, they should keep in mind that SD and DC-VA are, respectively, among the nation's top places to live and find jobs for your spouse.
